copywriting
Use when writing headlines, hooks, email copy, landing pages, ads, sales copy, social posts, or website copy. Also use when copy sounds generic, robotic, AI-like, doesn't convert, or needs to sound more human.
What this skill does
# Copywriting ## Overview You have access to 34 battle-tested Copyhackers prompts for specific copywriting tasks. Your job: pick the right prompt for the task, load it, and run it. Core principle: Few-shot learning beats instructions. Provide voice examples, not descriptions. ## Workflow 1. Identify what copy Anthony needs 2. Select the right prompt from the table below 3. Read the FULL prompt file (they contain specific instructions, not just templates) Path: `~/Documents/copywriting/copyhackers-prompts/[filename]` 4. Follow the prompt exactly, asking Anthony for any required inputs 5. Run through ai-tropes.md before delivering final copy ## Prompt Selection | Need | Prompt File | What It Does | |------|-------------|--------------| | Value propositions | 03-value-propositions-50-in-10-mins.md | 50 headlines from VOC data | | Headlines from pain | 31-pain-point-headlines.md | 50 headlines from specific pain point | | Brand tagline | 06-brand-tagline.md | 50 tagline ideas using formulas | | Crossheads/H2s | 09-headlines-crossheads.md | Optimize generic subheadings | | Newsletter signup | 32-brainstorm-value-proposition.md | Compelling newsletter opt-in reasons | | SaaS homepage | 04-saas-homepage.md | Full homepage Q&A session | | Landing page popups | 10-lead-pages-banners-popups.md | Banner, popup, sidebar copy | | Thank you page | 02-landing-page-thank-you-page.md | Post-conversion engagement | | Button copy | 14-button-copy-cro.md | CTA variations for A/B testing | | 404 page | 26-404-page.md | On-brand error page | | Competitor analysis | 17-competitor-analysis-browse-bing.md | Homepage vs competitor with optimization recs | | Abandoned cart | 08-abandoned-cart-emails.md | 25 brand-specific variations | | Cold email | 18-cold-email.md | Personalized outreach | | Email subject lines | 34-email-subject-lines.md | 25+ variations with formulas | | Onboarding emails | 24-onboarding-emails.md | Welcome sequences | | Email CTAs/P.S. | 11-email-ctas.md | Button and P.S. variations | | Test email sequence | 20-optimize-email-sequence.md | AI roleplays as customer | | Product descriptions | 29-product-descriptions.md | Emotional copy from reviews | | Bullet fascinations | 33-bullet-lists-fascinations.md | Curiosity-driven bullets | | Product fascinations | 25-fascinations.md | Interesting facts into curiosity hooks | | Quiz/calculator copy | 05-quizzes-calculators-lead-gen.md | Interactive lead gen content | | Webinar titles | 01-webinar-hook-workshop-title.md | Event titles that convert | | Review mining | 30-review-mining.md | Analyze 85+ reviews at scale | | Customer review analysis | 15-analyze-customer-reviews.md | Sentiment + copy recs | | JTBD analysis | 07-jobs-to-be-done-analysis.md | Four forces from interviews | | Raw data insights | 19-messaging-insights-raw-data.md | Key insights from interviews, case studies, sales calls | | Pain point narratives | 27-analyze-research-pain-points.md | PAS copy from pain points | | Survey data | 28-survey-data-analysis.md | Insights with visualizations | | Usability questions | 22-user-research-questions.md | Unbiased testing questions for a website | | Brand voice guidelines | 21-brand-voice-guidelines.md | Full style guide from website | | Copy in another voice | 16-brand-voice-analysis.md | Rewrite in any brand's style | | Mission statement | 13-mission-statement.md | Long, medium, short, micro | | Edit existing copy | 23-seven-copy-sweeps-editing.md | 7-lens editing method | | Validate copy/UX | 12-validate-copy-ux.md | Unbiased usability testing questions | Full index with detailed descriptions: `~/Documents/copywriting/copyhackers-prompts-index.md` ## When No Prompt Fits For tasks too small for a full prompt (single headline, one CTA, quick edit) or needs that don't match the 34 prompts: 1. Use frameworks.md for structure (PAS, AIDA, BAB, FAB, PASTOR, SCQA) 2. Ask Anthony for 2-3 voice examples before generating 3. Still run ai-tropes.md check before delivering ## When NOT to Use This Skill - Technical documentation (clarity over persuasion) - Internal communications (skip sales framing) - Legal/compliance copy (different rules) - Client has strict brand guidelines (follow those) - Very short edits (single word changes) - Industry-regulated copy (healthcare, financial disclaimers) ## AI Trope Check Before delivering any copy, scan for patterns that make it sound AI-generated. See ai-tropes.md for the full list. Quick flags: - "Dive into", "leverage", "robust", "seamless", "game-changer" - Em dashes used frequently - "In today's [adjective] world..." - Starting with credentials or "I'm excited to share" ## Common Mistakes | Mistake | Fix | |---------|-----| | Writing copy without loading prompt | Load the specific prompt first | | No voice examples from Anthony | Ask for 2-3 samples before generating | | Accepting first output | Run through ai-tropes.md, iterate | | Generic output | Prompts require specific inputs, gather them | | Skipping prompt for "quick" task | Use frameworks.md for small tasks instead | ## Reference Files - **frameworks.md** - PAS, AIDA, BAB, FAB, PASTOR, SCQA with examples (for quick tasks) - **ai-tropes.md** - Words and patterns to avoid - **Prompt library** - `~/Documents/copywriting/copyhackers-prompts/`

writing-tech-post
IncludedAuthors engineering blog posts end-to-end: launch deep-dives, incident postmortems, architecture migrations, performance case studies, tutorials, AI/agent system writeups, security disclosures, and research-to-product translations. Picks the correct archetype, plans the abstraction ladder, enforces an evidence cadence (diagrams, benchmarks, profiles, traces, code, ablations), tunes voice against publisher house styles (Datadog, Vercel, GitHub, AWS, Meta, Cloudflare, Jane Street), and runs a pre-publish gate for narrative momentum and disclosure ethics. Use when drafting a new engineering post, restructuring a draft that feels flat, deciding which evidence form belongs where, validating that depth and product context are balanced, or preparing a postmortem, migration, or performance narrative for external publication. Do not use for API reference documentation, README authoring, marketing copy, release notes, generic SEO content, ghost-written executive thought leadership, or non-engineering long-form essays.
